Rachel V. Brown (PhD) #
ConsultantRachel Brown is a Consultant at Synergy Strategica. She is a proud Jamaican Communication Specialist and lecturer at the Ghana Institute of Journalism. In 2020, she earned her PhD from Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona with a thesis focusing on the impact of Social Media Activism. She earned her Master's degree in Law from Wake Forest University, and her Bachelors degree from the University of Southern California. She is the Co-founder and Executive Director of the Every Mikkle Foundation and the Vice President of Global United Diaspora. Her work has taken her to 31 countries where she has conducted projects in many fields including ending hunger, environmental sustainability, youth advocacy, women's empowerment, health, culture, education, the performing arts, public speaking, and sports. In 2019 she was named one of the Caribbean's 30 under 30. She has also served as a Global Youth Ambassador for ‘A World at School’ since 2015. Dr. Brown believes we have the power and duty to heal, protect, and restore our earth and its people by first educating others and then implementing impactful changes. She is a dynamic speaker and communicator who has spoken at and moderated several international events, workshops, and panels.

Daniel Odoom (PhD) #
ConsultantDaniel is a Consultant at Synergy Strategica. He is also a Lecturer with the Department of Communication Studies, Ghana Institute of Journalism where he teaches courses including Development Communication Strategies, Communication for Social Change, Introduction to Development Theories and Research Methods. He has expertise in Planning Development Communication Campaigns as well, having taught it at the postgraduate level at the African University College of Communication. Daniel has almost a decade teaching experience at both postgraduate and undergraduate levels across several universities.
Prior to joining GIJ, Daniel was the head of Department of Research, Ghana Communication Technology University (Takoradi Campus). His research interests include development communication, governance and decentralization, development studies, sustainability, and community development. A crucial component of Daniel’s research interest focuses on the need to locate the intersectionality which ought to exist between development and communication at all levels of society. He published several scholarly papers in areas including development communication and has reviewed many journal articles which are development communication related.
Dr. Odoom has also been part of committees charged to development communication related programmes. He is also a Development Researcher and an Organizational Development Consultant who consults for both public and private organizations. He has served on several committees at various universities where he has worked. Daniel has a PhD in NGO Studies and Community Development and an MPhil in Development Studies, all from the University of Cape Coast. -
